This 32 inch LCD television from Sony is another excellent addition to the Bravia range. It’s HD ready and comes complete with a digital tuner. It receives analogue signals too.

This TV is wall mountable but please remember that the bracket is NOT supplied. You’d think that Sony might include one but sadly they have chosen not too. You should find a table top stand in the box so you will be able to start viewing as soon as you get the set out of the box and hooked up.

Don’t let the lack of mounting bracket put you off. This is a fine TV and you’ll find that the wide viewing angle (178 degrees) lets you enjoy your new purchase from just about anywhere in the room. Something you need to consider unless your whole family plans to sit directly in front of the set.

Two HDMI inputs allow you to connect your other high definition equipment to the TV, such as Blu Ray or Playstation. You’ll also find that the KDL-32L4000 is well able to handle your analog A/V input/output requirements, making this a very versatile 32 inch LCD television. Looks like Sony has come up with another winner.

Although screen sizes of LCD TVs are getting bigger all the time, there is still a place for the 13 inch LCD television. Its unobtrusive size makes it ideal for a bedroom, study or kitchen.

A 13 inch LCD tv will have the usual mounting options: wall or shelf. Additionally, 13 inch LCD tvs can be mounted beneath kitchen cabinets using a fold down frame. It is important to check what mounting options come supplied with your particular 13 inch LCD TV.

13 Inch LCD TVS – What Is Available?

What are your options if you are considering a 13 inch LCD television?

Sharp LC-13SH6U 13″ 4:3 LCD Television

Sharp’s compact 13″ LC-13SH6U is an affordable way to have a bright, clear TV picture in a bedroom, office, or kitchen. Its clean, contemporary look is enhanced by the side-mounted speakers and black-and-silver styling. Sharp’s high-performance LCD panel design includes an effective anti-glare coating that provides greater brightness and wider viewing angles. This bright, glare-resistant picture easily overpowers room lights even the bright overhead lighting in the typical kitchen.

The supplied stand is perfect for a desktop or countertop, and it detaches if you’d prefer wall-mounting (please note that the bracket not included).

ViewSonic N1300 13″ LCD TV

ViewSonic’s compact, lightweight 13 inch N1300 LCD television is a bright, high contrast TV ideal for use in your kitchen, office or bedroom. This 13 inch LCD tv comes with a convenient wall/under-cabinet mount so you can view crystal-clear TV without any further purchases. As well as the integrated tuner there is also provided a range of options for connecting multiple video sources.

13 inch LCD Televisions – Problems

A compact, 13 inch LCD television is undoubtedly a very useful addition to a room where you want to be able to keep an eye on the TV but do not want, or have room for, a larger model. Unfortunately, as manufactures push towards ever bigger LCD tv screen sizes, it is getting much harder to find something as small as a 13 inch LCD TV.

So, you’ve made the move to an LCD tv and now you’re wondering where to put it? If it’s a small lcd tv, perhaps 15″ or 17″ you may have put it on a shelf. You might also want to consider an LCD bracket to mount it below a kitchen cabinet if you’re using your LCD tv in the kitchen.

If it’s one of the larger models, 26″, 36″, 46″ or whatever, it may be sitting on a stand on the floor. But you can do better. What’s the point of throwing out the old CRT tv only to have your floor space taken up with an even bigger stand?

LCD tvs manage to provide a lot of screen space in a slim package – and this is where you can really capitalise. With an LCD bracket to mount your lcd tv you get to have a large screen and keep your floor space!

LCD Brackets to wall mount your lcd tv come in various shapes and sizes. There is a basic frame mount – a slim frame fixed to the wall which your lcd tv is clamped into. Then there is the tilting LCD TV bracket. This is like the frame but it tilts forwards and backwards.

Next we have cantilever LCD brackets. These wall mount your lcd tv so that it rotates to face your particular viewing position. A variation on this is the cantilever tilt wall mount which, as its name suggests, provides both tilting and turning for your lcd tv.

The fixed-frame wall mount lcd tv approach is great if you tend to watch your tv from the same position or if you are pushed for space as they are very slim in profile. If you have a little bit more space, or want the luxury of being able to view your tv from different angles then one of the cantilever models is the one to go for.

Whatever you do, don’t go to the trouble of buying an lcd tv and then dump it on a shelf, or worse still, waste floor space with it. Make the most of your lcd tv and floor space by checking out the range of LCD brackets.

Plasma TV Vs LCD TV

If you are thinking about getting a flat panel tv, you are probably asking the question LCD or Plasma. Visually LCD televisions and Plasma televisions look very similar and both are capable of turning in a great performance. But that is where the similarities end. It is important to understand that LCD and Plasma are completely different technologies.

Until recently the choice was easier. Plasma tvs definitely had the edge over LCD tvs in terms of performance, althought they were more expensive. The choice was therefore pay less and get a not so good LCD television, or pay more and get a high performance plasma tevevision. Things are getting harder now as LCD technology is improving all the time and prices are dropping. LCD tvs are now competing with Plasma tvs on their own ground.

Plasma TV Vs LCD TV – The Differences

What are the differences between LCD and Plasma television?

[[adsense]]

Plasma TV

A plasma display consists of two plates of glass between which are sandwiched hundreds of thousands of tiny, gas filled cells. These cells are filled with neon gas and coated with phosphor, making them, in effect, rather like tiny flourescent tubes.

Each plasma cell can be individually energised with an electric current, causing the gas to release ultraviolet photons. These photons cause the phosphor coating of the cell to radiate visible light. By switching the cells on and off in the correct sequence, 1000s of times a second, the picture is formed.

In fact, each cell, or pixel, consists of 3 cells, giving off red, green or blue light. By varying the relative intensities of red, green and blue different colours are formed.

LCD TV

Unlike a PLasma TV, the pixels of an LCD TV dislay do not give off any light themselves. A liquid crystal solution is trapped between two sheets of glass and the whole display is illuninated with a back light. Varying the voltages applied to the pixels controls how much light from the back light reaches the screen.

Plasma TV vs LCD TV – Which Is Better?

There is no definitive answer to this as which is “better” depends on how you rate factors like price and performance for a given screen size.

Price

Plasma tv prices and LCD tv prices have converged a lot recently but plasma still has the edge at larger sizes. For small screen sizes LCD is the dominant technology so the plasma vs lcd debate does not really exist. In the mid-range sizes the prices become broadly similar.

Performance

Plasma televisions still have the edge over lcd televisions but the difference is diminishing all the time. Because of the back light nature of LCD televisions, LCD tvs do not display deep blacks so well so the contrast capabilities of LCD are not quite as good as plasma.

If you are using a plasma tv in a room with lower lighting levels then this difference will be more pronounced, but in normal conditions the plasma vs lcd issue again becomes almost a non-issue.

Viewing angle used to be an area where plasma tvs scored over lcd tvs but again this distinction is diminishing. It is, however, still important to check the specifications of the tv you are thinking of getting or better still, to give it a test viewing in the shop.

One last difference to consider when looking at plasma vs lcd tvs is screen resolution, or number of pixels per inch. Except at very large screen sizes, LCD televisions offer a higher pixel count than their plasma tv counterparts. In mid-range sizes, therefore, where prices are similar, this could tip the balance in favour of LCD televisions.
